National Home Show 2017 Toronto

Just back from attending the National Home Show 2017 at the Enercare center Toronto and came home armed with a suite of great contacts for materials and supplies. Here we share with you some of the highlights of the show and what impressed us the most.

First up was this gorgeous kitchen which was our absolute favorite. The clean lines, flat doors (no handles) and layered islands made this contemporary kitchen really stand out. My favorite was the stainless steel clad island - cleaning is a piece of cake with this! We liked how they combined three islands in different materials, heights and finishes yet kept it looking cohesive. All cabinetry was automatic and we liked that as the flat surfaces devoid of handles just added to the overall look.

Dhiraj checking out hardware for washrooms, we have 4 projects we are working on right now and we saw some great options here.

Another fabulous booth was this beautiful space designed by Glen and Jamie of Peloso Alexander Interiors. They combined the Benjamin Moore 'shadow' color of the year so well with the curved velvet furniture. Velvet is so back! Would you believe that marble effect behind the bookshelf below is a wallpaper! yes its a wallpaper. Such a great option when you have a tight budget.

Soapstone sinks. Soapstone counters. Dhiraj was very impressed with this option for future bars he is designing. Its a softer matt material which feels warmer than granite.

One of my favorites is cabinet hardware and we spotted some luxurious finishes here. Of course I veer towards gold and champagne tones the most but also spotted some great lucite and jade options too.

Always on the lookout for vanities and these options here  provided us with many ideas including all the sink options - crystal anyone?!

World's tiniest sink?!

Its always great attending these shows as we come away inspired and recharged for our oncoming projects. Follow us on INSTAGRAM for sneak peeks and behind the scenes footage. Soon to release the Rainpark project finished pics so stay tuned for more!

Fall Home Show Toronto 2016 Highlights

We had the pleasure of visiting the Toronto Fall Home Show thanks to complimentary tickets from our lovely clients. It was a much smaller exhibition compared to the National Home Show in Spring and more product focused, nevertheless we got to review some great products like the Hidden Bed options for future projects, some sleek furniture designs and fabulous lighting options.

Can you spot the bowler hat pendant light. One of these gorgeous pendants is making it into the Birchbankwest Washroom Remodel.

Loved these fluffy hanging chandeliers, very cool

Industrial lighting, still a favorite in our books

Hidden beds or Murphy Beds are a solution many of our clients ask us about. Space saving solutions is what we love coming up with and we were able to review a number of suppliers at the show. Believe it or not there is a full bed hidden behind those cabinets and the workstation below. These are great options for condos or even for a home office for when you need an extra bed for guests.

Luxurious blue velvet tufted couch and chrome table, a great option for a modern space.

Am still a fan of huge round mirrors which explains why we put an Ikea Stockholm walnut finish one in our upstairs washroom. And how cute are those gymnasts on the sleek poles on the left side of the cabinet !

Y`all know we love brass and velvet. So no brainer with these chairs.

Great to see another supplier of Chalk based paints. This is a great option for when you are painting directly over a finished piece of furniture. See our blog post where share with you TIPS on how to use Chalk Paint.

The highlight of the show was seeing Lynne Knowlton`s vintage Air Stream completely renovated and we almost died when we heard it was up for sale ! Have ya seen her Instagram account where she showcases her tree houses, cabins and campers all beautifully decorated in her signature style and up for rent. We met Lynne`s daughter and her boyfriend and we got a chance to tell them how much of a fan we are of Lynne`s work. We then tagged Lynne in my Instagram post and she replied back! She replied back guys ! Celebrity replied back ! Excuse the fan gushing here people. Its just that I am always tickled when celebrities reply back to me on Insta - like that time Colin and Justin replied back to me too ! Yes they did ! Go follow us on INSTAGRAM if you don`t believe me.

The decor is simple and clean with white everywhere and touches of gold. Small details like the `guardian angel`note, gold faucet and the star lantern are Lynne`s signature touches which just turns this Air Stream into a magical place to stay in.

Excuse the hazy pix folks, we were trying to photograph the camper and take in the little details all at the same time.........like this sweet note Lynne had put up above the temp gauge.

2016 National Home Show Toronto - Canada Blooms

At the National Home Show Toronto a whole section was created by Canada Blooms, the largest flower and garden festival in the country, celebrating the very best in Canadian gardening and floral design. It was single digits outdoors but these flowers were acting like it was the middle of summer......fooled me alright! But breathtaking in every way.............

This vignette with Ranunculus was so pretty with the over sized jars and moss cover.

Loved the tall beaker-esque vases....very Breaking Bad !

I bet my Mother in law would be able to name each plant, she is a wonderful gardener and has a beautiful garden back home in Bombay

So many different varieties in this plot, such a pity that I didn't know most of the names :(

Cozy dining vignettes for an outdoor setting, and a chandelier is such an unexpected touch

An outdoor fireplace is perfect for relaxing in front of on those chilly evenings

A waterfall in a piano with a cute elf watching...............this installation was beautifully created

Aaliyah went nuts over this concept

Beautiful orchids in tubes hanging from this tree

Tempted to turn our backyard into a Japanese themed oasis after seeing this, its a 60 ft long space behind our home and I am stumped for ideas.

Look at this cello. Now look at me...........lol ! Who remembers that Ad that went viral.

This creation by far was the best..........succulents are my favorite and they covered this entire mannequin in them with a giant one on the head forming a crown of sorts.

I came to Canada a very non-gardening type of person, had no clue about plants but have changed in the last year or so, thanks to my Aunt Aynette Fernandes who insisted I learn their names and gave me the confidence to try things on my own.  I have attempted some gardening and am actually looking forward to getting started on my little front patch once warmer temps hit.

The National Home Show did not disappoint and we wished we could have spent more time there with the Canada Blooms exhibition  being the high point of the show...........nature is truly Art by the greatest creator ever.
