We have been busy the last few months working on a
30+ yrs old basement in Etobicoke,ON that needed a complete overhaul. The basement was transformed into a modern entertainment room, light filled kitchen, sleek washroom and a spare room. We reveal how we took this tiny space and blew out walls, moved gas lines, bulk heads to open the entire 800+ sq ft space that allowed for the clients to entertain in.
The client has an upstairs electric kitchen which is hardly used. The kitchen in the basement has a gas stove which she prefers using so it was only natural that she would want this space renovated. See how we added several custom features and endless storage options for our sweet client who absolutely loves to cook.

30+ yr old Kitchen |
The kitchen had very limited storage and a poor layout with the cooking range planted right at the doorway forcing people to squeeze past. Not enough counter space for prep meant the client had to add a makeshift table in the room reducing the foot print even further. Our challenge was to provide for endless storage, a solution for the spices, appliances and better lighting.
We designed a U shaped kitchen with the farmhouse sink taking center stage, the range hood on the left and fridge on the right. This kept the work triangle tight. We gave the client several storage options from glass fronted custom cabinets, to shelving & deep drawers, blind spot pull out carousels and a 90'' floor-to-ceiling spice rack, two appliance garages and so much more. See the transformation here:
All black cabinetry with large format 30x10'' white textured tiles on the walls and grey wood look porcelain tiles on the floor add a sense of luxury to the space. |
This 90'' floor-to-ceiling spice rack was custom built to fit into the otherwise wasted space at the end of the cabinet run. |
Pantry unit featuring shelving and many pull out drawers for additional storage |
Deep drawers for taller items |
Custom built dual appliance garages featuring dedicated circuitry per duplex socket |
Glass fronted display cabinets feature integrated lighting |
Blind spot pull out carousel on either side of the sink |
Stacked drawers keep everything organized |
The microwave features a custom bezel (surround) and a hidden drawers beneath for storage. |

Our client absolutely loves the black and white combination but if you prefer lighter colors, check out the other white kitchens we completed earlier this year. I 'm not much of a cook but even I want to whip up a pie in this luxurious space, and with that floor-to-ceiling spice rack I could make a new dish every day! Not really! ha ha luckily my family are not foodies and we can get by with eggs.
Thank you to our wonderful clients for giving us this opportunity to work in and on your home. It has been our absolute pleasure transforming this space for you.
We also added a
custom home wet bar, Darts game area and
entertainment room in the same basement. So be sure to check back for the reveals happening in the next few weeks. Go check out the other
basements we completed in the past.
